St. Ann | St. Bernard, Taylor Creek | St. James, White Oak | St. Margaret Mary
As part of the Beacons of Light process we must come up with a new name for our FAMILY OF PARISHES. We will be choosing our new “canonical” name. The new name will be our collective “family” name; however each individual church will retain their respective name. For example: “Welcome to the SW-5 Family of Parishes, comprised of the churches of St. Margaret Mary, St. James, St. Bernard and St. Ann. Using this example, instead of SW-5 we would use the name chosen through the selection process.
We will be collecting name suggestions through the end of January. You may submit them online using the form below, OR you may download a PDF form to submit via the U.S. mail, the Sunday collection, email, phone or in person to the parish office.
From the Church’s Code of Canon Law (cannons 1214-1222), these are some guidelines for making name suggestions. The chosen name of a Family of Parishes can be:
• The name of the Trinity
• A name for Christ, invoked in the liturgy or a mystery of His life
• The name of the Holy Spirit
• A name for Mary, invoked under a title used for her in liturgy
• The name of a holy angel
• The name of a canonized saint
• The name of a blessed, provided the Apostolic See has given its permission
